Do Electric Cars Need Oil?

Sky-high gas prices have caused a lot of Burlington drivers to be curious about electric vehicles, and they have questions. For instance, do electric cars need oil? Fully electric cars, in fact, do not use oil. That means there’s no such thing as an “electric car oil replacement”. Hybrid vehicles are a little different, however. Which kind of car is the EQS? Does the EQS use oil? The staff in our service centre wants to help keep you informed, so let’s talk about these questions in more detail below.

Do Electric Cars Need Oil Service?

Since no combustion engine is under the hood of an electric car, oil service is not something you will need to worry about to keep it running on our Hamilton roads. That goes for changing spark plugs and belts. You will need to occasionally check the brake and transmission fluid, as well as coolant if the car is equipped with a radiator. You will also need to rotate and replace the tires, just as you would on a conventional car.

Do Electric Cars Need Oil if They are Hybrid?

Since both an electric motor and a combustion engine can be found in a hybrid electric car, oil replacement will still need to be scheduled along with all of the other services you would normally need to have done on a conventional car. So, services like oil replacement, spark plug changes, replacing the air filter, etc., will be required to keep the car running dependably on our Hamilton roads.
