Why is My Car Leaking Water?

Car Leaking Water

If your car is leaking fluid on your Burlington driveway, it’s likely not serious. In most cases, it’s just condensation from your air conditioner. A/C fluids leaking from your car will usually pool near the back of your engine compartment around your front tires. You might also find water leaking from under your car’s tailpipe. That said, there are a few cases where leaking fluids can be quite serious. Read on to make sure that your car is safe to drive on Hamilton roads. If you think you might be having serious issues, don’t hesitate to reach out to the service department at Mercedes-Benz Burlington for help.

Identifying the Cause of Water Leaking from Under Your Car

Whether your car is leaking water or your car is leaking another fluid, read our handy guide to get the bottom of whatever issue is causing the fluids leaking from your car. First, Hamilton drivers should:

  • Take a sheet of paper and place it under the leak. Verify that it is clear like water. If it even has a hint of some other hue, it may be something other than water.
  • If a considerable amount of water is coming from your exhaust, you probably blew a gasket. In this case, that large amount of water will usually be accompanied by white smoke. That’s because coolant is leaking into your combustion chamber and being burned along with the fuel.
  • If there’s a possibility that you’re leaking coolant, you can double-check by examining your coolant levels. If they’re low, get your car over to our service centre pronto.
  • Your leak could also be windshield wiper fluid. Oftentimes, your wiper fluid reservoir will crack during the winter. If this is the case, you’ll find a light green or blue fluid pooling by your front tires.
